Fact of the Day: Coconut Fruit

Despite the name, coconuts are not really nuts. A coconut is a drupe botanically. Other kinds of drupes are peaches, nectarines, coffee, mangoes, and olives.

Pretty interesting, and ironically, those are some of my faves to snack on, and love my frappuccino. Hugs and Happy Monday! RO

Love coconuts. I had never heard of a drupe, now I know. Thanks Adam

I don't like eating coconut but I do enjoy some nice coconut milk every once in a while. First I've ever heard of the "Drupe" category of fruit.

When we lived it Puerto Rico we used to eat coconuts all the time and had a couple of trees in our yard. Some people drank the milk inside but I didn't care for it. Love fresh coconut though.
