Despite the name, coconuts are not really nuts. A coconut is a drupe botanically. Other kinds of drupes are peaches, nectarines, coffee, mangoes, and olives.

  3. I don't like eating coconut but I do enjoy some nice coconut milk every once in a while. First I've ever heard of the "Drupe" category of fruit.

  6. When we lived it Puerto Rico we used to eat coconuts all the time and had a couple of trees in our yard. Some people drank the milk inside but I didn't care for it. Love fresh coconut though.
