Fact of the Day: Corn Digestion

Fans of the food corn have noticed that it doesn't seem to digest well by the time it makes it to the toilet. This is an misconception, the internal parts of the kernels are easily digested by the human body. However we lack the necessary bacteria to digest almost any of the outer skin (pericarp) of the corn. Which is reason why eaters of popcorn don't really notice anything.
