Fact of the Day: Secular Turkey

When the Ottoman Empire fell, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk led the country as its first president. He made sure Turkey was a secular and a modern-state nation, which was a rare exception in Muslim-majority countries.

We were so impressed with that man when we visited Turkey many years ago. He worked to give women equal rights, changed their alphabet to more latin based characters, made public education a right for everybody, etc. I can't believe how much he accomplished in such a short time. Absolutely amazing!

I don't know much about Turkish history, but from reading your post and the comments above, it seems like we need more leaders like him nowadays.

He is highly respected in Australia.

Read/Google: Anzac Cove, Gallipoli.
The words on the memorial are the most moving written between former enemies of WW1. The author - Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Maybe the US idiot brigade might learn something from this "Fact" provided by Adam. Thank you Adam for this "fact of the day".

He would have made that "clown with a "very big, big brain" ( to quote Turnip himself), no one else would have been so stupid to utter this, look like a pygmy on the world stage or any stage except Texan. Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee outposts!

Yep Kay, there were and still are some very great persons for which we should all be grateful.

PS: For the DJ clowns and others..........learn!
