Fact of the Day: Jester Clowns

Inspired by the jesters of European royalty/nobility, clowns as a modern "artform" didn't appear until the 18th century but didn't stabilize in what exactly made a "clown" until the 20th century.

  3. That picture looks like Emmett Kelly a very famous clown who always looked sad. He was a witness to that horrible circus fire, Hartford Circus Fire where over 160 people died. The only t8me he was seen crying.
