Fact of the Day: Bilingue

Greatly due to the province of Quebec, about 20-21% of Canadians are fluent in French.

I'm not in that percentage.

When I visited Montreal a zillion years ago, that was the only time my horrible rendition of high school French came in handy.(lol) Hugs...RO

Girl scout song just popped into my head:

Where you ever in Quebec,
Stowing timber on a deck,
Where a king with a golden crown
Goes riding on a donkey.
Hi ho, away we go
Donkey riding, donkey riding
Hi ho away we go
Riding on a donkey.

Song made no sense, but the tune was catchy.

Whoops. First word supposed to be "WERE" not "WHERE." Too early in the morning, I guess.

Forsythia, my sister and I used to sing "Donkey Riding" all the time when we were kids! (Yes, we're Canadian)

Very little French in the Toronto area these days. But when We drove once to Quebec it was so fun going into a McDonald's restaurant at the border and the food menu was in French!

I was in Toronto maybe 30 years ago, and the signs were printed in both English and French.

I remember this from my trip to Montreal. Luckily I spoke passable French at the time (but that was over 30 years ago).
