Fact of the Day: No Divorce Countries

While divorce has been a right for married couples for most of the world, up to the late 20th century, many countries that had Catholic majorities still had no exceptions for divorce. However today, the other countries that don't allow divorce are the Philippines (Muslims can divorce in the country), and Vatican City.

  1. I was aware that divorce is not allowed in the Philippines, because my daughter and son in law are living/working there at the moment and when she started working she had to get a separate bank account and her workplace wouldn't deposit money into her husband's account. Reason being when couples don't get on, they can't divorce, but can live separately and each has their own account/money.

  2. I didn't know that about the Philippines. Not surprising about Vatican City though.

    1. Yeah, you have to move a few miles to Italy to give the Pope the bird.

  7. Good grief! I had no idea. We have so many people from the Philippines here in Hawaii. Maybe if you can't get a divorce, you can leave the country.
