Fact of the Day: Cola Cure

Coca-Cola was originally intended to be used as a medicine. Its inventor John Pemberton was addicted to morphine after being wounded during the U.S. Civil War and he wanted something else to use in its place.

I wonder if it worked to wean him off morphine. Probably not.

I checked Wikipedia. No, it did not cure his morphine addiction. He died at 57, penniless and addicted. His sone died soon afterward of opium addiction as well. A sad story.
