Fact of the Day: Fauna

The animals of a particular region/habitat are referred to as fauna. Coming from the Roman goddess Fauna, who was the female counterpart of Faunus, the god of the forest, plains, fields. The Greek counterpart god was Pan, he was the god of the cattle, shepherds, and the wild.
