Photo: World's Smallest Woman Ripley's Odditorium (Gatlinburg)

This statue is based on Lucia Zarate, a Mexican woman who was no taller than 24 inches, which has her tied with another person named Pauline Musters from the Netherlands. She had a tragic end as her circus train got stranded in Nevada, and she died of hypothermia at the age of 26.

I knew about this young woman who was nicely proportioned but just so small. It is politically incorrect now but I think she is a midget whereas many are dwarfs because they have legs or arms not well developed....like the great Billy Barty whom I always loved
