Things I Hate: Gebel (Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night)

Gebel was a big disappointment to me. I know they based him heavily on Alucard from Castlevania but I was expecting something more epic.

Photo: Boo Blasters on Boo Hill (Carowinds)

Back during the Paramount Carowinds days, this was one was called Scooby-Doo's Haunted Mansion. Cedar Parks made it rather generic after the transfer which does lose some of its magic. You basically ride a cart of sorts and shoot targets in a glow-in-the-dark type area.

Lumberjack Christmas Nutcracker

Now this is a Christmas nutcracker you don't see often. The Christmas trees aren't safe.

Fact of the Day: Hundred Years Without a Dutch king

When King William III of the Netherlands died in 1890, the throne of the Netherlands fell into the hands of Queens until 2013, when Willem-Alexander became the first king in over a hundred years.

Things I Like: Pilotwings Stage (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

While far from my favorite stage overall, it's one of the best ones from the WiiU version of Smash 4. It makes a return for Ultimate. It's based on the Pilotwings series by Nintendo, which I was never into to be honest.

Things I Hate; Wrecking Crew Stage (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

I've never been a fan of this stage. It first came out in the WiiU version of Smash 4. It's based on Wrecking Crew, a forgotten but early Mario spin-off.

Photos: Carowinds Bumper Cars

One of my favorite rides at Carowinds is the bumper cars. I liked the setup better than Dollywood's as there's more room to drive around.
I always take delight in bumping others.

The Old West Sheriff Christmas Nutcracker

I always like Christmas nutcrackers out of the usual. This one looks like an old west Sheriff. While it has little to do with Christmas, I like it.

Fact of the Day: Young Turkey Dinner

A turkey for consumption at the dinner table was typically 4 or 5 months old when they reached the slaughterhouse.

Things I Like: Duck Hunt Stage (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

This one isn't the greatest but I love how the whole stage is pretty much Duck Hunt on NES.

Things I Hate: Isabelle (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

I really hate to say that, because I really wanted to like Isabelle, but I thought she was too weak. I do like her in her main game, which is the Animal Crossing series. Her first game in the series was New Leaf on 3DS, as she served as the villager/mayor's assistant. She actually has a crush on the mayor (though this is revealed really low-key), and since she still has those feelings regardless of if the villager/mayor is male or female, that technically makes Isabelle one of the few LGBT video game characters.

Photos: Fury 325 Roller Coaster (Carowinds)

This one wasn't there when we went a few years ago, as they opened it up the year after. While "old news" now, it's actually Carowinds most impressive coaster for size, height, drop, and speed overall. Not that I actually ride big rides like this. But only a few coasters in the world (seriously) can outclass it.

The Green King Christmas Nutcracker

I do admire Christmas nutcrackers when I see them. I spotted this one. I suppose he's supposed to be a king of Christmas or something.

The Cutest Candy Corn

I saw this guy right before Halloween ended. I hate candy corn, but I make an exception for this one.

Fact of the Day: John Rogers Versus Queen Mary Tudor

When Queen Mary Tudor took the throne of England, she sought to restore Roman Catholicism and her first major martyr was John Rogers. He made one of the earliest translations of the Bible (but not the first) in English.

Happy Thanksgiving 2019

While it's my least favorite holiday of the year, I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving. To my Canadian friends, happy belated Thanksgiving. And for everyone else, happy Thursday?

Things I Hate: Gaur Plain Stage (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

This one was in Smash 4 as Shulk's stage. It's based on his game Xenoblade Chronicles after some area.  I wasn't a fan of it in Smash 4 and not in Ultimate either.

Things I Like: King K Rool (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

Besides some really minor cameos in previous games, King K. Rool finally joins the cast in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I wasn't the hugest fan of the Donkey Kong Country games, so I wasn't excited to see him, but I'm happy for the fans that were. He's basically the Bowser to Donkey Kong.

Dale Earnhardt's Car (Carowinds)

Dale Earnhardt was my father's favorite Nascar driver and they have a ride dedicated to the late driving legend at Carowinds after his nickname, The Intimidator. His race car isn't too far away from the entrance of the ride.

Cinnabon Baked To Go (Welford South Carolina)

We pass by a gas station on our way back from Greenville, and they had a sign for Cinnabon. I didn't have the time to check it out the last time, but this time I did. I was wondering if it was pre-packaged stuff like Krispy Kreme does for grocers and gas stations, but it is "real" but shares a spot with Aunt Annies inside the gas station. It didn't smell delicious like the Greenville location, but it did smell good.

Fact of the Day: Magnetic Turtle

Sea turtles use the Earth's magnetic field to navigate in their migration around the oceans.

Things I Like: Robin Hood (Once Upon a Time)

One of my favorite minor characters, I liked old Robin Hood. He has a small role at first, as a thief caught by Rumplestiltskin and brutally punished for it. Though he escapes and does a very Robin Hood-like role of serving on the side of good.

Return to Oz (1985 Film) Review

Not many films can really rival 1939's The Wizard of Oz in terms of greatness or iconicness. There have been many prequels, sequels, and spinoffs even before the 1939 masterpiece, as they're all based on books by author L. Frank Baum, who died about twenty years before Judy Garland amazed us all. But that was a MGM movie, Disney did this "unofficial sequel" but they also made many twists so I suppose they wouldn't be outright sued by MGM.

Meeting Charlie Brown at Carowinds

I haven't noticed many of these mascots walking around but they had more than Dollywood I suppose. We managed to get a photo with Charlie Brown when he was free. No Snoopy in sight though.

Daisy and the 2019 Christmas Teddy Bears

One of Daisy's favorite things about Christmas is seeing the new teddy bears. She has all the males from previous years, but only one female.

Fact of the Day: Chinese Carrots

The top producer of carrots in the world is China, with a little over half of the global supply coming from Chinese farms.

Things I Like: Zelena/The Wicked Witch (Once Upon a Time)

Even though she was evil for the majority of her time on the show, I did like the character and the story.

Frozen II (2019 Film) Review

Quite a number of years ago, my wife Daisy and I watched Frozen for the first time. While we were a little late to the game, I could see why pretty much every kid was in-love with the movie. It's literally like the favorite thing of one of my nieces. It took Disney years and years to get a sequel made, but it begs the question. Was it really worth a six year wait?

Daisy with Queen Elsa Art (Frozen 2)

This was Daisy after we got done watching Frozen 2 today. She liked it, check out my review coming shortly.

Starbucks at Carowinds

Daisy was delighted to see a Starbucks while we were at Carowinds. I think they had it when we went years ago.

Fact of the Day: Coffee and the Pope

A popular story about coffee (which may or may not be 100% true) is that the Catholic Church had opposed coffee as the "devil's drink." Coffee came from lands with a Muslim-majority and was quite popular there as well, which caused some Catholics to believe it was an "invention of Satan." Pope Clement VIII apparently liked coffee so much that he thought it was a shame to let only Muslims drink it.

Things I Like: Zangetsu (Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night)

Zangetsu is a character I remember in Curse of the Moon but his role here is much different, though similar. He appears to work for other characters, but he has his own motives.

Woodstock Express (Carowinds)

Probably the biggest, fastest, and tallest ride at Camp Snoopy, I've always liked the Woodstock Express.

Cookies From Barnes and Noble Cafe

Daisy wanted me to take her to and from her seasonal job at Party City (which is now over) one night. I decided to surprise her on the way home by taking her to Barnes and Noble as she loves the place. We rarely get anything but this time we did. We got a thing where it said we could get a two cookies on BOGO from their cafe. I was a little hungry so I went for it.

Fact of the Day: Scrabble Name

The classic game scrabble comes from the uncommon English word of the same spelling. It means "to scratch frantically."

Things I Like: Boxing Ring Stage (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

This one was in both versions of Smash 4 and returns for Ultimate. It's based loosely on the Punchout games.

Things I Like: Wii Fit Studio (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

I remember this one well in the WiiU version of Smash 4. It's based on the game Wii Fit.

Wilderness Run Mini-Coaster (Carowinds)

I think they renamed and I know they painted this one the last time we were at Carowinds. I actually think it's a pretty fun ride. It's built for the kiddos, but it's pretty curvy and kind of faster than you'd expect.

Little CR and Her First Spaghetti Meal

My youngest niece Little CR is old enough to have more solid foods. Her mom made her spaghetti for the first time. I think she likes it.

Fact of the Day: Malaysian Star Fruit

The top producer of starfruit (carambola) in the world is Malaysia.

Things I Like: Town and City Stage (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

I like Town and City but I always forget it and Smashville are not the same stage. This one was based on City Folk while the former was based on Wild World.

Things I Like: Richter Belmont (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

Richter Belmont is a fighter in the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game and I'm glad he made it. I was a big fan of the Castlevania games (mainly the Metroidvanias) and Richter was my favorite Belmont in the series. His main game was Rondo of Blood but he also had a major role as a boss (good guy under puppet control) in Symphony of the Night after Alucard wakes up from centuries asleep.

Dragon Ball Super (TV Series) Part 6 Review

Daisy has been pretty adamant about continuing our journey through Dragon Ball Super. This one starts at the end of the whole Future Trunks/Goku Black saga. And to be honest, I really wanted to see it as well.

Daisy and the Carowinds Wolf

Daisy also saw this wolf stuffed animal while at Carowinds, but she has one already so she didn't get it. I actually had a better idea for her at the end of the day.

Little Iz and the Christmas Phone

My mom took these photos of my niece Little Iz finding a "Christmas phone" at Lowes in their holiday section. Did Santa pick up?

Fact of the Day: Mister Rogers Colorblind

The famous children's show host of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, Fred Rogers was red-green colorblind.

Things I Like: Garden of Hope Stage (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

Garden of Hope is based on the Pikmin series, and this stage came originally in the WiiU version of Smash 4.

Things I Like: Simon Belmont (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

I suppose it was only a matter of time before Konami's Simon Belmont from Castlevania made it into Super Smash Bros. He was the original Belmont who fought Count Dracula on many occasions. Then more games came out and it seems Simon had many ancestors like Trevor Belmont who had dealt with the vampire lord for a long time.

Peanuts Pirates (Carowinds)

After lunch, Daisy started to complain of motion sickness. So I knew where we were headed, the rides for the kiddos. I don't really mind due to my mild fear of heights. One of the first was Peanuts Pirates, which I don't recall seeing on our last trip years ago.
