Fact of the Day: Spiked Dog Collar

A dog collar with spikes actually has pretty ancient origins. Even in Ancient Greece, dogs needed to be protected from wolf attacks. The collar would make one of their most vulnerable areas (the neck) immune to wolf fangs.

I always thought it was for cosmetic reasons, to make a dog look more butch.

It makes total sense, but I never would have thought of that.

I've seen that in pictures and thought it was just to make the dog look more powerful. This makes more sense.
